For UK trade bodies and associations

Prize draws for your members.

Most member benefit programmes save your members money. This one makes them money.

Prize draws as a partnership benefit. Three levels, from a simple listing to a whole in house fundraising programme.

A line on which body you represent is enough to start from.

Why it works

Why prize draws beat most campaigns.

Most membership bodies are being asked for more member value while member budgets tighten.

The insight. A standard fundraising campaign asks someone to give something up. A prize draw asks them to try for something instead. Same contribution, different psychology. That one shift is why well run prize draw pages convert around 1 in 10 visitors, roughly ten times a standard landing page. People share them too, because there's a reason to: a prize worth telling a friend about.

The mechanic. Supporters pay £5 a ticket for the chance to win, with a free entry route by post to keep it compliant. It's not a lottery, so no gambling licence is needed, and there's no cap on the prize value or on the amount raised. Everything raised is unrestricted income, and every entry is a consented email address. A member finishes a draw with money it can spend on anything and a supporter database it didn't have 2 weeks earlier.

One real draw we ran for an Edinburgh attraction, from a prize that cost almost nothing to give away.

That's how a draw works. Here's what one gives your members.

How that benefits your members

Three things a member gets from a prize draw.

01

Money in, fast.

A well run prize draw is live for 10 to 14 days and can raise four to five figures (and sometimes into six figures). The range depends on list size, prize strength and audience fit. Tickets from £5. Average entry is two tickets per person.

02

A new supporter list.

Every entry is a new consented email on a database. Members often come out of a single draw with a meaningfully bigger warm list than they started with.

03

A headline moment.

Press, social sharing, word of mouth. The prize gives your members a moment to shout about.

Our role

Two levels of help.

Our role is to help your members get the most out of a prize draw. There's no software here and nothing to install. Every draw runs on Crowdfunder (free to use) and follows our 76 point roadmap, from audience to results. What varies is how much of our time a member buys.

Not every member wants to raise money. If some would rather grow an audience, they can run a free to enter giveaway themselves on our platform, at no cost to you or to them.

Run by the member

Blueprint

The full roadmap for a member to run its own draw. We provide stage by stage briefs, templates, copy packs, compliance guidance including the terms and conditions, and a page audit to check everything before it goes live.

Best for: members with someone to run it.

Delivered with us

Launchpad

The same roadmap with us embedded in delivery. We shape the prize, build the Crowdfunder page, write the marketing plan and the copy, and handle compliance. The member runs the marketing once live. Member rate, quoted per project.

Best for: members with little spare capacity.

The member benefit in one line

Through the partnership, your members get the Blueprint for £350 instead of £750.

That's the line you put in the newsletter.

How that benefits your organisation

Three things the partnership does for your organisation.

01

A board pack number.

"£X raised across our membership this year" is a line a supplier directory partnership can never produce. The total compounds year on year, and it's yours to claim in your annual report, impact section and AGM pack.

02

A renewal driver.

An income generating programme inside the membership is a cleaner answer to "what does my sub pay for?" than another 10% discount. A reason existing members renew, and a new line in the prospective member deck.

03

One body per sector.

Level 2 and Level 3 are exclusive. We work with one body per sector, so if the partnership is yours, this sits inside your membership offer and no one else's.

The partnership

One partnership. Three levels.

This is what a partnership with The Prize Draw Company looks like. Most bodies start at Level 1 or Level 2. For scale: 15 members running one draw a year at a cautious £6,000 average is £90,000 raised across the membership.

Level 1

Light

You tell your members we exist. A listing in your member benefits and a mention in a newsletter, and members deal with us directly from there. It costs you nothing and there is nothing to run. Every member also gets the free readiness quiz, a 2 minute check of whether a draw would work for them.

Level 2

Standard

We support your members in their fundraising, and you promote it as a member benefit: the £350 member rate in your newsletters and welcome packs, with interested members sent our way. In return we report back every quarter on what your members have raised, in a format you can drop straight into a board pack.

Level 3

Deep

We raise money for your organisation itself. Rather than members running their own draws, we help run 4 a year in your name, with prizes donated from across your membership, aiming at a £100k a year income line for you. Paid as a retainer plus a commission on what is raised. Usually a conversation we have later, once the member benefit is working.

Worth knowing: below Level 3 nothing runs under your name, and at Level 3 everything operational sits with us. If a draw underperforms, the debrief and the fix are our job.

About

Who you'd be working with.

I'm Si Walker, and The Prize Draw Company is just me. I spent 9 years in UK crowdfunding, gave a TED talk on the model, and helped raise over £22 million across hundreds of campaigns.

Prize draws are the mechanic I kept coming back to, because they move numbers more consistently than anything else I've worked with. Every member you send our way works with me directly. The Blueprint roadmap is how that scales without my hours becoming the bottleneck.
